Opening race of the season

It was the opening race of the season and the weather decided to bring Montreux to a standstill. Many of you will have been stuck in traffic jams trying to get to Clarens but the School Ski Team was already on route to Morgins with the sun popping up to reveal the profits of the night's storm.
Category D, C and B skiers prepared for the slightly delayed race time, warming up under the guided eyes of the school ski staff and ESS Montreux Riviera instructors, completing course inspections in preparation for the days racing.
The Cat. D girls kicked off proceedings with a very polished performance from Alice followed by Pelin.
In the Cat D boys, there were excellent glided lines in the fresh snow from Oliver and James finishing 3rd and 5th respectively.
In the Category C event, Maxine took the bronze medal, nudging Liv Mayer into 4th whilst in the boy’s race Rafael Tuffley and Thomas Edge took the spoils finishing 2nd and 3rd.
This took us into the afternoon session of the Category B skiers.
Most notable achievements came from Magnus putting down an excellent first run through a very undulating course that even Mikhaïl would be proud of and Ben, with his usual methodical preparation and focus, carving out a very credible 8th place.
One of the final runs came down to Daniel and after two years out of the ski, programme secured a bronze, second to Magnus, bringing home the Gold team event medal to add to the collection of precious metals in what had been an excellent day at the mountain office.
