Four seasons in one
02 March 2020
During the past week we seem to have had four seasons in one! We have gone from summer like temperatures to snow and gales and back to spring again! The spring flowers around the campus seem to have defied the snow and are out everywhere.
On Wednesday our girls' volleyball team, trained by our very own Nayef, had their first ever volleyball match here at St George's against Beau Soleil and gave their absolute best in what was a great match.
Nayef was proud of his team and commented: “A big compliment to my players on a fantastic performance in their first-ever volleyball match. We put into play what we practised in training, and I was pleased to see several great actions on the court. Nevertheless, I was most impressed by the team’s attitude and desire, particularly after a difficult first set. We provided a fantastic reaction to going behind and never gave up. Unfortunately, we lacked a bit of luck to win one of the sets, and I feel that our performance deserved more. From my perspective, I was happy that everyone was able to take part and contribute to the team.“
This past weekend we stayed on campus and the Boarders took part in various activities. We set up a badminton competition and the proud winning team was Greta & Paul F. Well done to both and well done to Benny who played really well too. With the spring temperatures, we also lit the camp fire and made 's'mores', our all-time-favourite toasted marshmallows and chocolate in between two biscuits!
We started a photo competition with the themes of Nature, Still life / abstract and Life at St George's. The competition will run throughout the week and the winner will be announced next weekend. A couple of keen students have already sent in some excellent shots.
