Music

The Music Department at St.George’s International School is vibrant and welcoming. There are many extra-curricular activities on offer for students of all age ranges including orchestras, bands and choirs. There is also a musical theatre club and a community choir. Instrumental and vocal tuition is provided by a team of specialist peripatetic teachers. We offer piano, guitar, bass, ukulele, violin, woodwind, drums, brass and vocal lessons. Students have the opportunity to study music at IGCSE and IB level as well as prepare for the ABRSM music examinations. The Music Department puts on regular concerts and public performances both in school and within the local community, and all students are encouraged to explore and develop their musical talents and interests.

Art

Art is a subject where students have the opportunity to express themselves in ways that are not always possible in other subjects. At St. George's we encourage students to embrace and participate in the arts, where they have the opportunity to experiment with traditional and modern art forms. We want our students to practice art in way that will help them explore the world around them while developing their creative, problem solving and critical skills and learn about the place of art in different societies and contexts.

Drama

Drama is an extremely important and well respected subject at St. George’s International School. Not only do we work to improve creativity and acting ability, but we push our students to work collaboratively to develop confidence through performance. Drama is a compulsory subject for Student’s at St. George’s from Junior School through to the end of KS3 with the option of further pursuing the subject to IGCSE level. Beyond this, at IB level the students can undertake the subject as Theatre Studies. Many productions are staged and performed throughout the year, both in house and public in which students can showcase their work.

The Drama department has close links with the English department; part of the KS3 course is to stage and perform a play that is linked with English studies. Drama students have the opportunity to take part in the annual school Musical Theatre production which is performed in one of our local professional venues. Trips, workshops and performances are organised for Drama students to enhance interest and deepen knowledge, as well as optional extra-curricular activities such as the Musical Theatre club for students to further improve their performance skills.
