News from St. George's Boarding
20 January 2020
We have had a busy and exciting second week of term. The weather has mostly been lovely which of course made our weekend activities all the more enjoyable!
The biggest excitement during the past week was the opening of the brand new Boarders' Gym. This has been long awaited and is a fantastic addition to the Boarders' facilities. Of course the day students also benefit from the excellent facilities during their school day, but when the school day finishes the Boarders have now two gym clubs every day.
We of course started the week with induction sessions for all those students who are planning to use the gym. Since then the gym has been in constant use which has been fantastic to see.
We are extremely proud of one of our Boarders, Thomas, who took part in the Verbier Freeride Week and came 4th place! An outstanding achievement, especially since he told us he had a 'small fall'!
On Saturday a group of Boarders was lucky enough to go to the Lausanne 2020 Canada vs Russia Ice Hockey match. What an amazing atmosphere and so inspiring to see these extremely talented young athletes.
On Sunday we had our second Boarders' Ski Sunday. We decided to go back to Gryon where the sun was shining and everyone had a great day out.
Next weekend, on Saturday we are planning a trip to the International Hot Air Balloon Festival in Château-d’Oex and on Sunday, depending on weather and snow conditions, we will ski at Anzère.
