Record breaking IGCSE Results 2019
16 August 2019
St. George's International School is delighted to announce record breaking IGCSE results for the 2018/2019 academic year. Over 50% of the grades awarded to St. George's students were A*/A.
Once again this year, the usual success of Year 10 students taking a language IGCSE has continued with all these students achieving an A*.

At St. George's we believe the academic rigour of the IGCSE programme, supported by a robust and individualised Tutor system, is the best possible preparation for IB success and beyond. We look forward to supporting these students as they begin their IB journey ready to continue the proud tradition at St George's of a 39 point average for students who have studied at St George's for 10 or more years and an average of 33.6 points for students who have studied at St. George's for 4 or more years.

What is an IGCSE Course?
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is a high-profile qualification provided by the University of Cambridge International Examinations Board (CIE).
An IGCSE is designed to be taught as a 2-year course. Exams are taken by students in Year 11 (US Grade 10) and are equivalent in standard to the UK GCSE and Cambridge International GCE O Level examinations.
CIE is the world’s largest provider of international qualifications for 14-19 years old.
What are the benefits of IGCSEs?
The Cambridge IGCSE curriculum provides an excellent foundation for a range of higher-level courses, including the IB Diploma. It is recognised by schools, universities and institutes around the world. Cambridge IGCSE courses are designed to allow students achieve high levels of academic and personal skills. They develop students’ confidence, responsibility, reflection, innovation and engagement. The curriculum is flexible giving students the freedom to select the subjects that are right for them.
96.4% of our students were awarded the The Cambridge ICE certificate with Distinction and Merit. This group award certifies that St George’s students followed a broad curriculum and entered between 8 and 10 subjects, (of an offering of 23 in total), selected from the five IGCSE curriculum areas – Languages, Humanities, Sciences, Mathematics and Creative-, including a minimum of two languages.
